Clean TeQ Water Secures Contract with Sunrise Energy Metals for Syerston Scandium Project Advancement

Clean TeQ Water has secured an engineering contract from Sunrise Energy Metals to update key process and refinery designs for the Syerston Scandium Project in New South Wales, Australia. The work advances the project toward its next development milestone and directly supports Sunrise’s Final Investment Decision (FID).

The A$665,160 contract covers the review and refinement of designs originating from the 2016 and 2025 feasibility studies. The scope includes the continuous Resin-in-Pulp (cRIP) circuit, based on Clean TeQ Water’s proprietary Moving Bed Ion Exchange (MBIX) technology, as well as updates to the overall refinery design. The engineering program is scheduled for completion within 16 weeks, with delivery expected in May 2026.

The updated designs will form part of Sunrise’s broader investment readiness package, providing revised technical inputs for capital and operating assessments. The Syerston Scandium Project hosts one of the world’s largest and highest-grade primary scandium resources, with Sunrise recently reporting a material increase in scandium inventory that strengthens the project’s economic outlook.

Clean TeQ Water’s appointment reflects a long-standing technical collaboration between the two companies. While Sunrise retains exclusive rights to apply MBIX technology for scandium, nickel, and cobalt at Syerston, Clean TeQ Water deploys the same ion exchange platform across water treatment, industrial processing, and critical minerals applications including uranium and rare earths.

Subject to a positive FID, Clean TeQ Water is positioned to deliver full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services for the Syerston processing infrastructure, leveraging its experience in advanced ion exchange systems and metallurgical plant delivery.
